Comments on the Death of the SSC
The cancellation of the SSC meant that many years of work by many of
America's top scientists has been for nothing, and for many, their
research careers are now ending. Once lost, American expertise in high
energy physics cannot be regained. We must now turn to Europe for future
advances in cutting-edge physics. Here are some responses, the first from
a widely circulated e-mail, and the others from the
Usenet newsgroup sci.physics.accelerators.
