From: thf2@ellis.uchicago.edu (Ted Frank) Subject: The Schmidling Controlled Media Date: Mon, 2 Mar 1992 06:14:34 GMT It's painfully apparent to all who watch that Jack Schmidling controls the media. Not only has he been mentioned on the CBS News, but he has had a letter printed in the July 16, 1990, Chicago Tribune. References to his fetish for weeds populate United Press International's databases. Anyone who says other- wise is just contributing to the conspiracy. But don't listen to me: the proof is in the pudding. Hors d'oeuvres for everyone: >From the American Political Network's Greenwire, June 16, 1991: " WEED WAR: "The fight to preserve the natural environment usually takes place in the great outdoors. But now the battle lines can be as close as your own backyard" (CBS' Ed Bradley). Retired engineer Jack Schmidling filed suit against the city of Chicago after receiving his third citation for allowing his weeds to go unattended. Schmidling: "A weed in most people's definition is a plant that they don't want ... They may be unwanted to them, but I happen to like butterflies and insects" (6/14). Note how CBS knew to send Ed Bradley, rather than offend Schmidling's sensibilities with the well-known Jewi-- er, I mean, Zionist journalist Mike Wallace. But it doesn't stop there... it's worse, much worse. The September/October 1991 issue of the award-winning "Garbage" magazine knuckled under to the Schmidling juggernaut, and granted him free advertising under the rubric of a "review" by renowned journalist Hannah Holmes on page 64. I tried to call up Garbage magazine to find out why they gave in, but when I telephoned them, *no one answered*! Just further proof of how deep the conspiracy goes. But see for yourself: "HEADLINE: Stormy Compost, Earthy Games, Backyard Critters Backyard Safari Video by Jack Schmidling Productions, 5401 Moody, Chicago, IL 60630. $ 32. This video documents a backyard restoration project that includes a tiny prairie, a pond, and wildlife-oriented plantings. If Mia Amato's "Backyard Restoration" (March/April '91) made you want to trade in your turf grass for something more interesting, here's how. The production is a bit amateurish, and the narration is comically low key. Producer/photographer/narrator Jack Schmidling sounds like he stayed up all night filming nocturnal bugs. But as the footage illustrates the step-by-step transformation of the mid-sized backyard, you'll find plenty of helpful information buried under that Midwest monotone. Besides the pond and the prairie, much attention is paid to the particular likes and dislikes of prospective tenants, from hydra and leopard frogs to goldfinches, crows, and rabbits. The labor (Jack's cheerful wife Marilyn appears to do most of it) is interspersed with fun shots of nature in action. The sincerity behind the hard-won pictures will make you feel involved in a way a slick National Geographic special never could. After seeing the work needed to attract nature to the suburbs, you watch as bold, new urbanites flutter, crawl, and hop into the new habitat. Some high points: the life cycle of a monarch butterfly, squabbling mice, and time-lapse photography of self-destructing mushrooms." Note the price of the video: $32. JS, Jack Schmidling's initials, are the tenth and nineteenth letters of the alphabet, respectively. And "arf", his code name, has three letters. 10+19+3 = 32. Coincidence? I think not. All in all, Jack Schmidling has *nine* entries on a major computer news service database that date after January 1, 1990. Me, I've only had three entries in my entire life. That's a three to one ratio. Just further evidence of the Schmidling-controlled media. --end included post, minus .sig-- -- ted frank | "There never was a Vicki Robinson" -- Citicorp's Erik Sorgatz the u of c | "Mom said she'd fix those butter sticks rolled in Kool-Aid law school | you like so much." -- Mark O'Donnell kibo#=0.5 | Standard disclaimers apply
