GOT A SALES OFFICE IN CLEVELAND AND A FACTORY IN LONG ISLAND?? ARE LONG DISTANCE OR LEASED LINE CHARGES FOR WIDE AREA NETWORK CONNECTIVITY RUNNING YOU INTO THE POORHOUSE?? RABBIT NETWORK NYC PROVIDES CONNECTIVITY FOR ONLY PENNIES A MINUTE! Due to overwhelming demand Rabbit Network has reached an agreement with a major big Apple network provider. In matter of fact we bought one to bring you the best service from coast to coast. In the months that we have been in service Rabbit Network has brought you the best in Internet and Usenet access in the Midwest. Now, the abused and have advantage taken of them New York customers on the Internet can have the service that Rabbit has been providing in Cleveland and in the Chicago metropolitan areas in Long Island and in the Big apple itself Manhattan and the other boroughs for a cost that is competitive with the lowest you will find anywhere in the world! We will soon in the months to come be offering service in the other surrounding areas of New York such as New Jersey and before the end of the year we will conclude arrangements to purchase a large site in Boston with the resources we will need to network that important market. In New Jersey we will be co-locating our facilities at US SPRINT's Pennsauken POP to offer you ultra-reliable service with generator backup that will last for weeks or months in the event of the kind of outage which could make all other services unavailable in the Northeast or even the whole USA. It is this kind of attention to detail that has fueled our explosive growth in our original service area and we are sure that you our new customers will enjoy it as well. Service is our watch-word. We have invested over $3 MILLION dollars and made the once owners of Panix rich and happy men. And even if it looks next to it like peanuts we will spend $10,000 to join the Commercial Internet eXchange (CIX) and to satisfy our Graphic User Interface designers we are also planning to join the X Consortium another $25,000 investment. It will pay off! There have been many tries to make the Internet seem like a service that anyone can use but the most talked about will pale in comparison to the soon to be announced RabbitHop Windows, Macintosh, and X Windows graphic interface to begin testing on our NYC (Panix) POP within two months. It incorporates high technology from the National Center for Supercomputing Applications and the X Window System and it is perfect for those who have found the Internet intimidating and confusing! We said several weeks ago that our new Sparc Center 1000 was on order with four processors and many GB of disk well it will be installed and operative in Cleveland within one month and a similar unit for New York will arrive soon. We are upgrading to high-speed T3 connections between our Points Of Presence on the East Coast and in the Midwest and our users will see that with our fast new Cisco AGS+3 routers there will be nothing like it for performance coast-to-coast! We will announce our plans for the other coast of this continent soon and the users of California and the Pacific Northwest will be overjoyed to hear them we are sure! It's late and I have to go get back to my one last meeting with the Panix staff before they all retire (not just for the night) and are replaced with our Rabbit Net personnell. A few familiar faces from Panix will linger on like John Hawkinson and Alec Peterson but we are sorry to say that due irreconsirable differences Thor John Lancelot Simon and Don Samek will be leaving the company. It's been a long work in the making and we've been working to choose a partner for your best service in the Northeast for a long time. We didn't know if it was possible but due to the hard work of our banker friends (thanks!!!) at Allen & Company and the last-minute cooperation of Alexis Rosen at Panix (enjoy your early golden years alexis....you deserve them!!) we are able to be the surviving company on paper and in reality and to bring the service we know is our goal to bring across the East. If you have any questions about this or other products you can call us at 800-456-0094 or send mail to our Customer Liason at liason@rabbit.net. Of course you can now also reach me at jpp@well.sf.ca.us and now you can reach me at jpp@panix.com of course! Enjoy the net with Rabbit Net and now you can do it in New York too! While I understand that it may confuse many of you to hear this, it was. It's been hard work running Panix, from when it was a Macintosh in Jim's house in Brooklyn with only one user until now, when we're pushing up against the 3000 user barrier and the office has more modems and terminal servers and computers than I ever thought I'd ever see in the same place. It's been hard work, and it's been a lot of fun. And I'll still be around to hang out and to talk about the old times and to be with the people in the community I love so much. There are more than a few special things about Panix, but it's the people who have always made it fun for me. Please don't think I'm deserting all of you. That's the last thing I would ever do, believe me. But I've come to a time in my life when I need to take a while off and relax and think things over for myself. I'm grateful to John for helping me to do this. I still own a little bit of Panix (as does Jim, who I'm sure will post here, too) and I want to see it grow and flourish as much as I ever did. I hope that under the wing of Rabbit Network (if you'll excuse the awful mixed metaphor) Panix will be everything it has been, and would be, and could be, and more, than if Jim and I were still in charge. I'd thank you all personally, but I can't. It would overflow even the new news disk if I tried. I want everyone to know that it's been a pleasure. Thank you. Thank you all. It's been more fun than you could possibly imagine...
