Here is a Happy little article posted by Homer Smith in
alt.clearing.technology a spin-off of
alt.religion.scientology.  A.c.t contains the ravings of a
Hubbaresque chap who has created his own little religion
called "adore", it uses the same "techniques" as scn and is
almost as wacked out, if not moreso.

|aren't you being a little harsh on the guy, what's so important about
|his not being able to be certain of some things.'
|     I haven't had a lot of comments you understand, just a few.  Mostly
|from my own BT's.
|     So here is my formal justification for the sentence.
|     A person who is incapable of certainty, is unsure of PAIN.
|     If he not certain of anything, if he is not certain he exists, if
|he is not certain he is conscious of anything, then he certainly is not
|certain of the existence of HIS OWN PAIN.
|     If he is not certain of his own pain, he surely can't be certain of
|anyone else's pain.

|just hurt these turkeys until they KNOW they hurt, how can they possibly
|continue with this 'maybe I exist, maybe I don't' crap while they are
|being crucified to a cross?  Besides isn't that the purpose of our
|criminal justice system, to hurt people who have been hurting others to
|let them know FOR SURE that they hurt, so that they can become SURE that
|others hurt too?"
|     But you see that won't work, because these people have already been
|hurt so much that they can't AFFORD to know they hurt for SURE or even
|that they exist.  Certainty of existence implies certainty of DESIRE and
|certainty of LOSS, unbearable loss and pain.
|     Those who can't remember their past, who can't admit that they have
|lost something too dear to know, can't afford to remain certain that
|they exist.
|     This is why punishment of the criminal never works, they just go
|more unconscious, more "I don't exist and neither do you."
|     Now someone might also say, "Yes, but Homer you yourself have said
|many times that even though you are certain that you exist, you are NOT
|certain that other's exist.  Doesn't this mean that you aren't certain
|that other people hurt too?"
|     Yes.
|     Yes I do not have that certainty that other's exist.
|     However I do assume that other's exist, for my own sanity, and my
|assumption that they hurt like myself is based on my own experience with
|my own pain.
|     Wouldn't you rather that someone base their probability that others
|hurt on their CERTAINTY that they themselves hurt, rather than on an
|uncertainty of everything, including their own existence and their own
|pain?
|     Belief is probability, it always implies a possibility of error.
|     Certainty is not probability, it is certainty, it always implies no
|probability or possibility of error.  You can never be certain of what

|is wrong, you can only be certain of what is right.  Only some things
|fall under the purview of a person's certainty.
|     Recognition of these basic truths DEFINE sanity, and they define
|safety in a social context.  If you don't KNOW that you exist for sure,
|you won't treat others like they exist for sure either, even though 99.9
|percent of the time it will seem like 'you are doing ok'.
|     This is not a polite or socially acceptable state to be in.
|     I have said a number of times that Chris is shallow.  In fact he is
|a master of exceptional shallowness.  Shallowness COMES from a denial of
|certainty, that IS what is shallow, his certainty on things.  Things
|aren't THERE for him, they aren't DEEP.
|     Total absolute certainty of his desire to live forever is not part
|of his experience.  Maybe he wants to, maybe he doesn't, it could be
|wrong, it could be right.
|     In fact it can be surmised that someone with so shallow a view on
|life and livingness couldn't possibly be very good at the hard physical
|sciences either.
|     Theoretical investigation involves at least the ability to gather
|evidence.  But evidence comes from observation, CERTAIN observation.  If
|a person can not observe with certainty various things, then he can not
|possibly hope to gather evidence very clearly, now can he, especially in
|those areas where true certainty is possible and NECESSARY.
|     Certainty of self, of desire, of beauty, of purpose, of meaning, of
|CARE and PAIN are imperative to a sharp analytical mind and an accurate
|approach to the subject of the physical sciences.  A person who can not
|even say for sure whether he exists or not, is not in a good position to
|say anything about anything ESPECIALLY the hard physical sciences.
|     Chris pretends to argue scientifically on ACT, but all the while NO
|CHARGE IS BEING BLOWN.  His true intention is to continue his cover of
|uncertainty and to continue to rip people off of their time and their
|patience with formal sounding arguments and great eruditeness born of
|nothing.  Why argue with the waking dead?  They will merely tell you
|that you are deluded for KNOWING that you are awake.
|     Uncertainty of uncertainty, and certainty of the impossibility of
|certainty, are both criminal confusions of the mind.
|     They are both CRIMINAL states and belong only to those of the
|criminal spiritual under class of beings.
|     They are both an intentional effort to obfuscate the truth so that
|the being who suffers from these self inflicted conditions does not have
|to admit to HAVING BEEN THERE AND BEEN CAUSE.
|     Ultimately uncertainty of existence is uncertainty of CAUSE, and is
|a blatant denial of personal responsibility which is one of the more

|direct and precious certainties that an awake being can have.
|     When someone has done egregious wrong, followed by Eternal Regret,
|a sense of personal responsibility becomes an anathema to them, and is
|no longer upheld in the precious esteem it once was.
|     Long ago I once said that Chris was a criminal and was roundly
|criticized for saying so by people who threatened me with libel suits etc.
|     By criminal I meant that Chris was at or below CRIMINALITY on the
|Awareness Characteristic Chart, which to him is silly and doesn't make
|any sense.
|     The scale goes in part,

|     -27 FIXIDITY
|     -28 EROSION
|     -29 DISPERSAL
|     -30 DISASSOCIATION
|     -31 CRIMINALITY
|     -32 UNCAUSING

|     He doesn't dare let it make sense lest he see his true state.
|     Disassociation is the inability to associate, with CERTAINTY,
|effects with their causes.  Below disassociation is criminality where
|the being no longer HAS any certain contact with his own cause.  Below
|that is uncausing.  Richard Bach once said in 'The Reluctant Messiah',
|     "PERSPECTIVE, USE IT OR LOSE IT."
|     The only real perspective there is, is CERTAINTY OF CAUSE, PERSONAL
|CAUSE AND RESPONSIBILITY.  Certainty of self and its direct CAUSAL
|AGENCY is one of the few certainties available to a being.
|     If you deny certainty of cause, certainty of personal
|responsibility for the effects that you cause, if you deny that those
|EFFECTS ARE CERTAINLY CONNECTED TO YOUR OWN CAUSE, then soon you will
|not have certainty of cause which is DISASSOCIATION, and eventually you
|will not have any cause left at all.  That is UNCAUSING on the Awareness
|Characteristic Chart.

|     Crime:  3. A serious offense, especially one in violation of
|morality. 4. An unjust, senseless or disgraceful act or condition.
|     Having adjudicated to my own satisfaction that Chris is at or below
|Criminality on the Awareness Characteristic Chart, and is indeed a
|covert criminal personality, with covert criminal intentions, acting in
|his discussions on a.c.t in a covert criminal way, not necessarily
|according to the laws of man, but according to the laws of Conscious
|Dream Units as I understand them, I hereby declare him to be in a state
|of Treason with regards to myself.
