When a time passes it forever
becomes history and can never be exactly re-lived, but at TVRM
we strive to preserve our living railroad history as it was over
50 years ago - to the time when our country was recovering from
the Great Depression and hesitantly facing World War II.
TVRM was founded in 1961 by a small group of
Chattanooga rail fans determined to save steam passenger trains.
Starting with only an idea, it has become the largest such railroad
in the Southeast, thanks to thousands of volunteer man hours.
There is a lot to see.
Our
trains look, feel, smell, sound and shake the ground the way they
did long ago, and although we admit to a few modern conveniences
(clean restrooms and air-conditioned depots) the atmosphere of the
30's is alive and well here.
