Grades are now final.
An Online Course Evaluation is available for this course until the end of Finals period. (The link should work now.) All students are encouraged to enter your evaluation. Any suggestions about the course are appreciated. I hope you've learned more than you ever expected about the amazing universe in which we live. The answers for the final exam are available in PDF format. See the white, blue, or pink (makeup) version. Grades should be available Friday afternoon. Extra credit web site on The Milky Way and Black Holes have been submitted, if you would like to view them. All extra credit has been recorded. This is an online course, which means you will work through the online text on your own, and take proctored quizzes and examinations on the material. See the course syllabus for the schedule. Please try to read the assigned chapters according to dates shown. You will report to the assigned computer lab during hours to be announced to take the proctored quizzes on the material. Some of the Laboratories are on-line as well, but others are real labs. The labs are held according to the schedule in the laboratory syllabus. Attendance is required for the real labs, and excessive absences may result in course failure. See the lab syllabus for details. Virtual lab worksheets are to be turned in at the next real lab. The laboratory makes up 25% of the course grade. Office hours are an 11 AM to noon, MWF, or by special arrangement. Please make an appointment. You can use the e-mail address or phone number at the top of this page if you have any questions or desire a meeting. There will also be a discussion page which should assist with your studies. The final grade is determined by a midterm and final exam, proctored online quizzes, and the laboratory grade. Each of these four items contributes 25% of the final grade. There will be no makeup exams, except in the case of approved schedule conflicts. Be sure to contact me in advance, unless it is an unplanned emergency (in which case, be prepared to document the emergency). Many Extra Credit opportunities are available. You should especially be sure to take advantage of the sky viewing sessions. A Minimum of 50% credit is required to pass the course, with at least 65% of the lab credit, and no more than one unexcused lab absence.
