Fox Glacier neve

[JPEG IMAGE]

This is the Fox Glacier neve, where many meters of snow fall yearly. The glaciers on New Zealand's west coast are among the few in the world that extend into subtropical forests, and also among the few in the world that are growing. Our helicopter pilot circled here a while trying to find a safe landing spot, before deciding to head down instead. (Dec. 29, 1995)
