Queenstown is the tourist capital of the south island. An endless variety of adventure sports are offered here. Queenstown is the usual base for walking the Routeburn Track. It is reasonably close to the Glenorchy end, but a five hour bus ride from the Divide end. The Remarkables are seen across the lake in this view from Bob's Peak at the top of the Queenstown gondola.
