- I arrived at Lukla on this plane. To land, the plane flies directly toward the side of the valley, and lands uphill on the short, steep unpaved runway. (10/29/94)

- Tengboche Monastery is the largest Buddhist monastery in the Khumbu region. It was recently rebuilt at great expense after being destroyed by a fire. The tip of Mount Everest is visible to the left, and Ama Dablam stands to the right. (11/2/94)
