This sunrise view of the Annapurnas is from Poon Hill, at 10,000 feet. The most prominent peak in the center is Annapurna South. Hiunchuli stands to the right, and Annapurna I is to the left. (11/21/94)

Sunset on Machhapuchhare
Clouds over the mountains lifted just in time to view the sun setting on Machhapuchhare and the other peaks of the central Annapurnas. (11/21/94)

Machhapuchhare, the sacred "Fish Tail" Mountain, is seen here from Tadapani. Climbing Machhapuchhare is not permitted. There was an unsuccessful attempt before further climbing was banned. (11/22/94)
