E-Mails Information
VIC subscribers enjoy quality service which includes
mail-filtering capabilities. Most unsolicited mails, better
known as "spam" mails, are stopped on VIC's e-mail servers.
VIC's
e-mail servers are taking advantage of the MAPS Realtime
Blackhole List (RBL), which is list of networks which
are known to be friendly to junk mailers who use their
resources to originate or relay spam mails. VIC's mail
servers are also using the MAPS Relay Spam Stopper,
a database containing spam-relaying mail servers. Mail
Abuse Prevention System LLC or MAPS is a not-for-profit
California organization whose mission is to defend the
Internet's e-mail system from abuse by spammers. For more
information about MAPS please visit their site at http://www.mail-abuse.org.
If
you receive what you consider to be spam (any and all
unsolicited email) you should forward that email to spam@vic.com.
The mail will be evaluated by the VIC system abuse administrators
and if it is found to be spam it will then be placed on
a list of addresses blocked by our mail server and other
mail servers around the world. In other words, the author
of the mail may not again send mail from that address
to users within our domain. In addition, we have the capability
to block specific IP addresses or entire domains.
VIC
is working on e-mail server upgrades which will include
virus protection, scanning e-mails for viruses before
they arrive to their destination.
