VIC was founded in March of 1995 to provide
commercial grade Internet Access services to
the East Tennessee market with a very small
budget covered by personal savings. With a total
of 8 telephone lines, the whole company was
running off one single computer with a 128Kbps
ISDN connection to the Internet. The first commercial
service offering was Internet access dialup
accounts. At the end of 1995 services such as
server collocation and hosting were added responding
to the demand of companies for a reliable Internet
presence.
In
1996, VIC moved to larger offices
in West Knoxville, Tennessee to support the
growing operations. Looking for funding to fuel
expansion VIC received a Small
Business Administration (SBA) loan, which played
a pivotal role in the subsequent growth. In
1998 web development services were added and
the same year Philips Consumer Electronics awarded
VIC their prestigious Excellence
Award. In 2000, having outgrown
the West Knoxville offices and answering the
call for the revitalization of downtown Knoxville,
VIC moved its headquarters to the 100-year-old
historic Keller Building. We purchased a floor
to host our operations and after a substantial
6-month renovation, the new building now hosts
a state-of-the-art Data Center featuring high-bandwidth
(voice and data) connections to multiple Tier
1 providers, FM200 fire suppression system,
data-center grade Liebert HVAC system, backup
power, temperature and humidity control, security
and 24x7 monitoring.
The
new millennium found VIC with a new focus, to
become the only Communications Provider a company
will need, acting as a single point of contact
for all communication needs. Being in an ideal
position, with the experience of more
than 8 years in the Internet
business, our focus is on communications services
that help businesses mobilize their workforce,
work more efficiently, and communicate better.
