This impressive rock pillar, named for the neck of a llama, is a landmark in the Canyon del Huaricunca near the start of our acclimatization trek.

Here, our trek heads into the village of Palca after leaving behind the Canyon del Huaricunca, where we look back and see some impressively eroded badlands beyond a farm.

A lady stomps on potatoes in Ventilla. This is one of the steps in making dehydrated potatoes. These preserved potatoes can be seen in every market here.

Our second camp is near the San Fancisco mine, at the beginning of the Taquesi trek which will follow a pre-Inca road across a 4650 meter pass.
