[cranes]
Crested Cranes
Crested cranes, with their spiked yellow punk hairdos, were among the more interesting birds we saw on the safari. Other interesting birds included hornbills and various eagles. (3/5/97)

[masai4]
Masai Women
This group of Masai women was soliciting photos (no English required) outside a gas station/souvenir shop we stopped at. I paid them for a couple of group shots. (3/6/97)

[tarangire]
Tarangire River
Tarangire National Park is centered around Tarangire River, which is said to attract large numbers of animals in the dry season, when it is the only nearby water. There are numerous elephants in the park. Some are seen here. The river was unusually dry when we visited, and the park was parched. Our driver said it is his favorite park during the wet season, because of its lush vegetation and large numbers of animals. (3/6/97)

[giraffes]
Giraffes at Tarangire
There were a lot of giraffes at Tarangire National Park, which also has large numbers of elephants, and numerous baobab trees. (3/6/97)
