Shira Plateau

Shira Plateau is the wide remnant of one of Kilimanjaro's three cones. The others, Kibo and Mawenzi, remain as peaks. We camped near the close edge of it. Shira Cathedral is a formation on its rim. Mt. Meru is seen in the distance in the left of this picture. (2/26/97)
